At 6 p.m. on Monday, May 7, the city of Oakwood will conduct a commemoration ceremony at Creager Field, located at the corner of Shafor Boulevard and Irving Avenue. The purpose of the ceremony is to rededicate park land originally developed in the late 1960s recognizing and honoring the many contributions of Walter P. Creager, Oakwood's first town Marshal. The event will include presentation of a resolution by Mayor Bill Duncan. Walter P. Creager served as Marshal of Oakwood Village from 1908 to 1928. In addition to being marshal, he also served as Superintendent of Streets, Sanitation Engineer, Health Commissioner and School Truant Officer. Members of the Creager family will attend the ceremony. In addition to rededicating the park land, the city resolution recognizes and acknowledges the change in use from a baseball/softball field to a dog park and officially establishes the name "Oakwood Dog Park at Creager Field". Location:
Creager Field located at the northeast corner of town, near the intersection of Shafor Boulevard and Irving Avenue. There is a small dog area and a large dog area, as well as an agility course.
